When we woke up today Jhason was feeling worse so I drove again for the majority of the day. We got on the road and drove for what seemed like days through the remainder of Kansas. Saw a little rain, but for the most part it was a nice, cool day. Every time I make this drive, I forget how long and grueling the midwest is. Not because it isn’t pretty, it’s just that everything is so flat it feels like you’re not going anywhere! No, there wasn’t too much goin’ on in Kansas – the most excitement we had was seeing a jug of “chicken poop” inside Walgreens (see below)…

We pulled over and got Jhason some Sprite and crackers, which is supposed to help an uneasy stomach. I felt so bad for him being stuck in a car feeling so sick. He started feeling better after we got some lunch. Lets hope he gets better soon so he can enjoy the rest of the drive!

Colorado is the most beautiful place in the country, second only to Northern California, if you ask me. This was, and always is the coolest part of the drive to California (if you take I-70)! Jhason had never been this far west so he was snapping pictures like crazy and kept mentioning how small the landscape made him feel. He’s right! If you’ve never been to Colorado, you should just take a long weekend and see it. It’s indescribable! The Grand Canyon is pretty cool too, even though we didn’t have time to see it this time through. Jhason and I took lots of panoramas, as you can tell. It kind of became the theme for the trip. I’m going to make HUGE prints of these and hang them up in my apartment in L.A.!

Now, I’ve driven through the Rocky Mountains before, but never with an SUV packed so tightly that your rear view mirror is pointless… not to mention the massive luggage rack connected to our hitch. There were places in the mountains where I couldn’t go faster than 45mph because the grades were so steep and there was so much weight in the car. My poor jeep was trying so hard! It was ridiculous how quickly we burned through gas that day. You could literally almost watch as the needle on the gas gauge slowly fell.

There’s a stretch of land in the Colorado mountains where there’s literally no gas for almost a couple hundred miles. You have to make sure when you’re making this drive that you don’t forget to fill up your gas tank before you enter this no-man’s-land. I almost ran out of gas when I made this drive a few years back. It can be pretty nerve racking but we made it through just fine. :)

Jhason and I drove through Utah at night so we didn’t get any good pictures. The southern half of Utah is pretty much desolate anyways. We had a hotel reservation in Richfield, (a little town about 5 hours from Vegas) but when we arrived we weren’t tired at all so we drove to St. George, which is much closer. We wanted to be able to spend some time in Vegas the next day since Jhason had never been before. We arrived at our hotel at 1:15 am, and hit the sack hard.

Heck Yeah for Kansas I live here and drive on I-70 every time I go back home or back up to college

  2. Reggie Says:

I totally agree with you on Colorado being the most beautiful place in the country! We go there every summer! Boulder is probably my favorite city.

  3. julian Says:

I LOVE Boulder! Everything is so clean there :)

  4. Cara Says:

Really nice pics. Jhas looked great on Sunday and we had a good worship set – I guess you took great care of him. Hope you’re settling in well, bro!

  5. Victoria Says:

That sucks that he isn’t feeling well. There is nothing worse than being stuck during a road trip with nausea. Those pictures are beautiful. I went to Colorado last year, and man, it is gorgeous there. The mountains are breath taking.

  6. Tom Leach Says:

Julian best of luck on the trek. I’m looking forward to meeting in person when you make it here to LA.

Since we’re both repped at WME, I’d love to discuss some potential collaborations if/when things ever slow down for you.

Congrats on all of your recent success!

    Best,
    Tom Leach

w00t! St. George, UT! However boring it is… :/

  8. Sarah T Says:

I can’t wait to visit Colorado one day!

  9. Garth Says:

I liked those panoramic photos you posted. How did you take them?

  10. Alan Says:

its called photo stitching, and what you do is take many pictures in succession, and then use a photo program like Photoshop to “stitch” them together so it looks like one big picture.

  11. Kokei Says:

Hooray for Nor Cal. We hardly get any publicity:)

  12. Katie Says:

You’re almost here!! (SoCal that is)Utah may be a tad desolate, but the red rocks are amazing! If you ever get the chance, there’s an awesome back road from Ivans, UT to the North end of the Grand Canyon. All dirt, 4X4 pretty much mandatory. It’s like the anti-tourist version. Anyway, home stretch! only 6 or 7 hours left!

  13. Brianna Says:

I’m really enjoying the updates! Amazing pictures. I want to travel the world. You’re a lucky guy! Take care!

  14. Bryce Driesenga Says:

Whoa, awesome photos and stories, ha. May I inquire as to how the driving panorama was done? If you took multiple photos, and stitched them, wouldn’t that show different parts of road, and not work? Just done in Photoshop, or…?

  15. heynabby Says:

love the pictures you took. its awesome. hopefully your road trip video will be as long as the one yuove done before! the longer the better. cause i never can get enough of your humor. :)

  16. Jen Nations Says:
